Too often, I think, priesthood holders think that being overly controlling, they are simply wielding their authority in the home. I thought I could do it, but the isolation, loneliness, and depression are much worse than I expected. Should we try to heed their counsel and marry in the Church. I'm firmly in the RUN camp. Talk about issues with Jehovah's Witnesses etc.

Some mormon girls are closeted freaks as someone here has already said. I just wanted to let SN and AD know that, if you decide to choose this path, you are not alone. You are expecting him to be like your exes and you want him to be the one to chase you.
Over the span of the last year though, things have slowly changed. But that was also a possibility if he had married a non-mormon. I wouldn't purposefully subject my daughters to that BS. I get it - he's dedicated years of his life to his craft and he has one chance to roll the dice. It seems like mormons in particular are even more crazy than the majority of crazy religious people, and the manipulation and treatment of people who wish to think for themselves and challenge their beliefs is really frightening. I still find it an endearing quality in my spouse, though I miss him sorely. By those standards, I was a failure, my husband wasn't "good enough" - and my daughter had ambitious real goals that required a lot of time and effort.
