This means that there will be a single server that will be authoritative over game state, while connected clients will maintain a close approximation. The server is an important part of UE4 multiplayer. It makes all of the important decisions, contains all of the authoritative state, handles client connections, travelling to new maps and handles the overall gameplay flow of starting a match, ending it, etc. Dedicated servers are headless by default. If you don't use -log, you won't see any window to represent the dedicated server. The server is in charge of driving the flow of gameplay.

Starting a Server
We now have a dedicated server application. You can download it here:. Install "Conan Exiles Dedicated Server" found in your steam library tools. NOTE: Currently if you try to start the dedicated server build from the steam client, you will get some error messages about steam DLLs. This is not the recommended way to start your server, but it should still work if you skip past the error messages. By default it will listen on UDP ports and You might need to add an exception in your firewall to get the server to show up in the Steam server browser.

Opening up your internet to outside connections is to be done completely at your own risk. Any attempt to modify the game or connect to our backend services to circumvent unlocks will be met with an immediate ban.
Dedicated servers in Space Engineers allow players to connect to a third party host, rather than using a player-host, in a peer-to-peer set-up. They are game instances intended for long time multiplayer games. This will result to a faster connection and a more fluent multiplayer performance with less lag.
